Hi, Alex here.


I'm a Northern California native now residing in New Zealand. What else? My wardrobe consists of earth tones (AKA Black.) Matcha in all forms is the flavour of choice. I still secretly think that I'm capable of being a superhero; Random and full of life, you get the gist.


Am I the creator behind Light and Shade Narratives? Yes, but before classifying myself as a photographer, I am a makeup artist, a stylist, and a mental health advocate.


Curiosity is a door to the world of knowledge, right?

I have an uncompromising obsession with approaching everything I do through an artist's lens; whilst learning about the world with the tiny surprises it comes with.

My "Why?"


Who would have thought that I could tangibly recreate a moment as a profession? Every person I have been able to meet on the other side of my camera has changed me for the better in one way or another; I could only hope that I do the same for them. Thou has and shall prioritise the experience over all else. I'm even partial to the odd destination wedding, so let's allow AWESOME happen!


My aim? To document your story and the moments that mean the world to you. I want you to look back at your photos/videos and see nothing but a relived moment.. in all candidness that makes it all yours.


At the end of the day, I do not wish to just deliver good photographs/videos (I want to go beyond that) I want to provide a space where you completely show up with your heart on your sleeve waiting for that moment to be captured. Forget all else and we'll create something utterly beautiful together.
